Waimakariri United Football Club and Board are delighted to confirm, former title winning Canterbury United Pride Coach Michael De Bono is to lead the 2024 WPL Programme, and support the development and implementation of the Clubs Female Pathway.

The decision to appoint Mike is part of the Clubs strategy to grow the Women’s game and to provide pathways where players can develop and be successful. It is also a great opportunity to leverage off the back of a successful Women’s World Cup, as well as support the work and effort, that so many people have already put into the Women’s game at the Club.

"I'm excited to have the opportunity to Coach the Clubs WPL Team again," De Bono said. To support the Club in developing a Female specific pathway which ensures female players have the support to reach their potential was an underlying factor in my decision to say yes to this exciting role."
