Announcement of Senior Men’s CCL Head Coaches appointment Ollie Hawkins and Adam Keizer

Waimak united are pleased to announce the appointment of Ollie Hawkins and Adam Keizer as joint Head Coaches for our Men’s CCL team from next season. The duo take over from Brad Eiffe who left the club last month due to moving to Blenheim and will take their first session with the team on Tuesday 14th January for the start of preseason.

C Licenced coach Hawkins joins The Mak having spent 3 years as the Football Development Manager at FC 2011 while Keizer, who is undertaking his B Licence next year, is the club’s full time Football Development Officer, having joined the club in September. Both Head Coaches will take an active role in the development of Waimak United Youth Players with Keizer also taking charge of the club’s 15th Grade team next year and Hawkins overseeing the club’s 17th Grade side.

“It’s an exciting opportunity to join the club with the players and personnel that Brad put together last season,” said Hawkins. “We aim to unlock the potential in this team, and I am also excited to support the players within the club with a clear pathway from youth football to senior football.”

Waimak United finished 3rd in the CCL last season and Keizer and Hawkins clearly feel the previous coach has left the team in a good place to improve on that. “I don’t think we could have made this kind of appointment if it wasn’t for what Brad and his coaching team put together last season,” said Keizer.

“Ollie and I have a very clear understanding of where we want to take the team and what’s required. There are no short cuts to success so a lot of hard work will be put into our training programmes to ensure we have a team that plays with intensity and the players know exactly what their roles are within the team. We’re looking forward to the challenge, there’s some great players at the club and there’s no doubt the message to our younger players is that if you’re good enough then you’re old enough as we want to see our homegrown players continue to be given a chance to step up into the first team, but it’s not going to be easy for them. They’ll have to earn it and all the players will quickly get to see the levels we expect in terms of fitness, quality and commitment. We are not here to be friends with them we are here to win football matches and get the very best out of them all, if we do that then this team has massive potential next season. I’ve spoke to a number of senior players already and they are raring to go, as are we.”
