      COACHES NETWORK

Mainland Football have introduced a "Coaches Network" for the Mainland Region providing an opportunity for coaches, both experienced and inexperienced to ‘connect’ with each other by sharing knowledge, experience and philosophies.

All Waimak United coaches have been registered to receive regular e-newsletters, information about coaching workshops and events featuring guest speakers who have made an impact on the local and international stage
click here to see speakers planned for 2009 .

This is a great opportunity for all coaches to develop and to get to know other coaches in the region and there is no cost associated with being a member of the Coaches Network.

      RED BOOK 2009

All coaches were handed out a "Waimak United Coaches Handbook" at the beginning of the season which has all the information you should need.

The Mainland version of the coaches handbook is called "The Red Book".  The traditional hard copy that is normally issued is now only available as an online version.

The Red Book contains information rules and laws of the game, ground and park addresses and contact details for all football clubs affiliated to Mainland Football.

      Coaching

Junior coaches are all voluntary members of the club. We acknowledge and appreciate the value of the time and effort invested in developing the skills of our young football players, and making the club possible. Throughout the juniors, coaches are mainly parents who are keen to help develop the skills of our young players. As a coach, no matter of age or level, players will benefit from, enjoy and appreciate your support and encouragement – your own enjoyment will parallel theirs

With around 100 junior coaches needed in our newly merged club , please don’t wait for us to ask you … tick the box. Junior teams normally practice once a week. The coach picks day and time to suit, generally an hour one night during the week – though if the weekend suits better, then so be it.

All coaches are offered coaching courses. First level is Small Whites Coaching Course developing basic skills and drills.  For those wishing to extend their skills the next level is the Advanced Junior Club Coaching Certificate.

We are keen to hear as early as possible from anybody who is keen to coach, also any coach wishing to complete their next coaching level please contact your grade club captain:

NB. 2009 Season - all coaches and committee members receive a subsidy of up to $110 off annual family subs.

Each team requires a manager. This person will assist the coach in contacting players as required. Helping with substitutions, making sure gear is all handed in and in good order, etc. Complete team card. Pass on club notices. Helping out at practices if needed. Bit like being a parent really!!   Just tick the box on your registration form or if you have any questions contact your Club Captain.

Further information on coaching courses can be found on Mainland Football website: http://www.mainlandfootball.co.nz/coaches/index.htm
